A Comprehensive Guide to Acne Care

A lot of us get acne when we are teenagers, and some of us still get acne beyond our teenage years. It can be very frustrating to deal with,  your skin can be so clear for months, and then they pop up again.

Understanding acne

What causes acne?

Hormones: Hormonal fluctuations usually are the biggest trigger for acne, especially during puberty, menstruation, and pregnancy.

Clogged Pores: We should clean our skin at the end of the day, because we have excess oil, dead skin cells and environmental pollution on the skin. When we have dirty pores, they get clogged and bacteria builds up which leads to acne development.

Food Sensitivity: Food sensitivity can cause acne as well, some people may get acne when they eat dairy products, spicy or fried foods.

There are a few different types of Acne

Blackheads and Whiteheads: These two types of acne are non-inflammatory, usually the result from clogged pores, no redness or swelling, non painful types.

Papules and Pustules: These inflammatory types of acne are red, tender bumps (papules) and pimples containing pus (pustules).

Nodules and Cysts: You definitely don’t want these types of acne, they hurt. They are deeper in the skin and larger bumps that may cause scarring.

Here is the big question: How to get rid of acne?

Having a effecting skincare routine

The two very basic steps are cleansing and hydrating. Cleansing your skin to keep the pores clean; using a moisturizer to keep skin hydrated, even if you have oily skin, moisturizer is crucial to maintain a healthy skin barrier.
