What is Waxing?

Waxing is a semi-permanent hair removal technique that removes hairs from the root. The removed hairs will not typically grow back for two to four weeks depending on the individual.  For best results you should wait four to six weeks to get waxed again.  Almost any area on the body can be waxed. This includes body areas such as: eyebrows, the face, the pubic area (called bikini waxing), legs, arms, back, abdomen, knuckles and feet.  Your hair should be at least quarter of inch long for the most effective hair removal, that is approximately two to two and a half weeks after shaving.

One type of waxing is called Strip waxing (soft wax).  This technique spreads the wax thinly over the skin. A cloth or paper strip is applied and pressed firmly, adhered the strip to the wax and the wax to the skin. The strip is then quickly pulled against the direction of hair growth, as parallel as possible to the skin. This removes the wax along with the hair.

Hair Did It Go

Hair Did It Go is an alternative to laser hair removal that really works! It works by blocking the oxygen supply to the hair root; it literally starves it to death.  It weakens the follicles over time, resulting in less and less regrowth; it does this through the ingredient papain, which is from the papaya fruit.  Hair Did It Go is fast acting and results can be seen after just one application, and maximum results can be achieved in 5-15 applications. There is another great fact about Hair Did It Go, which is, it works on all skin color and hair types so everyone can be hair free.  Hair Did It Go is also safe for nursing and pregnant women to use.  You must have empty hair follicles for Hair Did It Go to be effective.

Types of Waxing

Strip-less wax (hard wax), is applied somewhat thickly and with no cloth or paper strips. The wax then hardens when it cools, thus allowing the easy removal by a technician without the aid of cloths.

Sugar wax is another type of waxing (sugaring), is applied thickly to the skin with the technician's hand, then the wax will be removed without cloth or paper strips, but only the technician's hand.

Soft wax is the majority of the type of wax we use at Invigorate, we also use some hard wax, however, we do not do sugar wax (sugaring).

FAQs

How long does my hair need to be to waxed?

Your hair should be at least 1/4" long, that's approximately 2 to 2 1/2 weeks after shaving. We highly recommend you grow your hair out to 1/2" long to help ensure the hair is completely removed from the root, especially if you have thick/coarse hair.

How often should I get waxed?

We recommend getting a wax every 4 to 5 weeks, your hair is generally long enough to get another wax during that time frame, that way you maintain your hair and it would not hurt as much.

Can I get waxed when I am on my period?

Yes, you are totally fine to get a wax while on your period, we would need you to have a clean tampon or cup before your wax. Your skin would be a little bit more sensitive, which it's more painful than normal and you would have a higher chance of getting a bruise.

Can I get waxed during pregnancy?

Yes, it's generally safe to get wax during pregnancy. However, because the increased blood flow to your skin makes it super sensitive, it would be more painful than usual, and a higher chance of getting a bruise.
